When it comes to painting the most important thing for me is the composition and the materiality of a painting – the particular haptic, the tactility and the feel in a way.
The composition must be something like a movement in stasis. A stop where you can still see that before there was a movement. I also like to play with different surfaces by using different paint, brushes and also firnisses. For me it is important if and where a painting shines or not. This is also why I was experimenting with plastic for a while - with used plastic film and plastic packaging which I integrated in the painting process.
I think in my whole aesthetic life I was interested in the tension of surface and deep structure – that the one stresses or subverts the other.
